Leeward & South Coast Sea Turtle Programme

The Leeward and South Coast Sea Turtle Programme (LSCSTP) funded by Edmiston yachts to the tune of US$25,000.00 began on April 10th 2022 as a continuation of the SVGEF’s support for sea turtle conservation efforts in St.Vincent at the Grenadines. The main objectives of the programme is to assign beach monitors to record sea turtle activity, raise awareness on turtle conservation in coastal communities to reduce the illegal poaching of sea turtles, and to encourage a clean nesting habitat for turtles. 11 key turtle nesting beaches along the Leeward and South Coast of St.Vincent will be monitored including:

Chateaubelair.

Troumaca.

Mt.Wynne.

Bamberoux.

Jackson Bay.

Clare Valley.

Questelles.

Roucher Bay.

Brighton.

White Sands, Canash

Richmond Beach

The programme is expected to run for 6 months in the first phase during the 2022 sea turtle season, and throughout this season we aim to nurture the monitors on this program into beach custodians, and thus nurturing conservationists.
